ELECTIONS for Board of Directors


Effective August 1st candidacy nominations will be accepted for our Board of Directors.

 Nominations will be accepted through August 15th

After which time each candidate will be interviewed by JOYS Gymnastics Coordinators. 

Coordinator interviews will be completed by August 20th.

The Coordinators’ recommendations will be submitted to the entire membership for approval by August 20th.  Voting by the membership will continue through August 30th . Candidates must receive approval of a majority of those voting to be seated on the

Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors tenure will begin

September 1, 2017 and conclude August 31, 2018. 

Though each term for the Board of Directors is for one fiscal year, they may continue to submit their names for re-nomination on an annual basis for up to (3) years.


 

All qualified candidates will:

 

-         possess solid character traits and personal integrity;

-         a passion for our mission;

-         willingness to commit time for board meetings, committee meetings, planning sessions, and special events;

-         be a team player - works well in a group;

-         someone who listens well, is thoughtful in considering issues;

-         has business skills that will assist JOYS Gymnastics as it continues to thrive as a non-profit, tax exempt organization.

 

Additionally, these legal duties are required of all nonprofit board members:

 

-         Take care of the nonprofit by ensuring prudent use of all assets, including facility, people, and good will; and provide oversight for all activities that       advance the nonprofit’s effectiveness and sustainability. (legal "Duty of due care")

 

-         Make decisions in the best interest of the nonprofit corporation; not in his or her self-interest. (legal "Duty of loyalty")

 

-         Ensure that the nonprofit obeys applicable laws and acts in accordance with ethical practices; that the nonprofit adheres to its stated corporate                 purposes, and that its activities advance its mission. (legal "Duty of obedience")

 

The term runs from September 2017 through August 2018 and can be renewed for up to three years.
